Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

Device Requirements

All 9th, 10th & 11th graders are required to bring their own laptop—in working condition and fully charged—to school every day. It must be a Mac or Windows laptop, not a tablet, Chromebook or smart phone because these devices can't run course-specific software that will be installed.

Hardware—For PC:
  • Windows suggestions: Acer Aspire 13", HP Pavillion x360 13", Dell Latitude 14"Samsung ATIV Book 13"
  • Intel Core i3 or AMD A6 Processor (Intel Core i5 or AMD A8 recommended)
  • 4GB system memory (RAM) (8GB RAM recommended)
  • Wifi capable
  • 256GB hard drive capacity
  • Nvidia or AMD graphics card
  • Operating systems: Windows 10, Windows 8.1, 8, Windows 7 (supported for one more year 2016-17)

  • Apple Macbook with an Intel processor
  • 4 GB system memory (RAM) (8GB RAM recommended)

  • Operating systems: OS X 10.11 (El Capitan), OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), OS X 10.9.5 (Mavericks; supported for one more year 2016-17)

Not supported:
  • Linux
  • Windows NT, 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, or Vista
  • OS X 10.8.5 or earlier
  • Chrome OS

BYOD is about offering choice to members of the LWHS community. BYOD respects the personal preferences of students, offering them increased mobility and better integration of their home and school lives. It also enables them the flexibility to work in a way that optimizes their productivity.
All LWHS students, parents, faculty and community members must be familiar with the Technology Acceptable Use Policy, and must abide by it when using LWHS technological resources and infrastruture both on campus and off.
