Dear Lick-Wilmerding High School Students and Families:
Though we are still in the foggy mists of summer here on Ocean Avenue, the start of a new school year is quickly approaching. I welcome you to Lick-Wilmerding’s 125th year of educating the head, heart, and hands of students in the Bay Area. Some of you are new to the school, while others of you are part of families with long traditions at LWHS. No matter what your tenure, I trust you will find Lick-Wilmerding High School a welcoming community dedicated to “developing life-long learners who contribute to the world with confidence and compassion,” as our mission states.
As we embark upon the new school year, I am eager to get to know people new to our community as well as deepen ties with returning students and families. Please feel free to share with me your experience at Lick-Wilmerding. Only through ongoing communication can we understand the needs of our students while also clearly articulating the school’s values and expectations for learning.
Our major school-wide initiative this year is refining and then adopting a new five-year strategic plan in the fall. The strategic plan builds upon the strengths of the school and addresses areas of opportunity identified in our accreditation self-study, accreditation report, and feedback offered last during various focus groups and surveys last year. I look forward to discussing the plan with you soon.
Each year, we welcome a wonderful group of new adult members to our community. To learn more about them, please read their bios.
This is a truly exciting time to be a part of the Lick-Wilmerding community, and I thank you for partnering with the school to educate this dynamic group of students. If you happen to find yourself on campus, please drop by my office and say hello. I am located off the main lobby toward the front of the school entrance. I wish you each a relaxing and rejuvenating remainder to your summer, and I look forward to seeing you soon.
