The Bay Area Youth Climate Summit is a youth-led organization that kicked off a day-long conference, on September 12, 2020. The LWHS Environmental Club led a team of 21 students from schools all over the Bay Area to work on outreach, workshops, social media, and technology. Over 280 high schoolers attended, from 88 schools, 14 states, and 7 time zones. The conference included workshops from 32 presenters and 16 organizations, such as the Cal Academy of Sciences, Fashion Revolution, Sunrise Movement, Zero Hour, SF Environment, and more. Throughout the day, high schoolers led discussions about climate justice and the ethics of sustainable technology, where attendees met other youth passionate about the environment.
