Restorative Practices (RP): The Restorative Practices Working Group has been working diligently for the past year to create a process through which, as a community, we will be able to address harm, build better, more honest relationships, and attend to our collective healing. Watch the video
This was an explicit ask from our students of color in the poster last year. Since the working group started, we have, under the leadership of Director of Student Inclusion Naomi Fierro, put together an intake form for reporting harm; created a video explaining RP, it’s origins and uses; set up interviews with key community stakeholders— Student Leaders, Academic Deans, the Director of HR, and Assistant Head of School; as well as attended a four- part seminar RP training which is now being supplemented by a formal Restorative Practices licensing course through the International Institute of Restorative Practices (IIRP). We are also researching a partnership with Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth (RJOY) to help with centering racial justice in our school’s RP process.
