LWHS is the perfect school for me as a learner. I’ve found peers and teachers who provide support for me whenever I need help. I came to LWHS because of the rigorous classes, amazing shops, and welcoming and diverse community. The inclusive, welcoming community allows me to express myself fully, and makes it easy to talk to new people from very different backgrounds.
I was quickly trying to get to my next class and accidentally walked into a senior class. At the moment, I was kind of embarrassed, but because of this mistake, some of the kids in that class are now my good friends!
During my frosh year two students hired a Michael Jackson impersonator to perform during lunch and it was genuinely one of the most bizarre things I have ever witnessed. He gave his all in that performance and was jumping off of lunch tables and sprinting through the Shops Pit. Only at Lick…
Definitely softball! The community on our team is unlike any other—playing a sport we love every day has helped us bond like family. Honestly, playing any sport in high school is a great way to make new friends. But I'm biased; softball is definitely the best team at Lick.
At LWHS I’ve had access to more opportunities and experiences than I thought was possible. I love the small class sizes because they are so supportive and encourage students to step out of their comfort zones. Knowing my teachers and fellow classmates on a more personal level makes me feel a lot more comfortable to ask questions and admit when I don’t understand something.
Something I would tell my 9th grade self is to try as many new things as you can. There are so many different clubs, sports, and opportunities at Lick that I wish I took advantage of as a Frosh.
