World Languages
Philosophy
The World Languages Department believes that communication and interaction with people in their own languages help build positive relationships. Learning another language provides a sense of appreciation for the contributions of other cultures to the world. Language learning also promotes critical thinking through reflection on the similarities and differences among all cultures. As language teachers, we seek to provide students with skills that will allow them to communicate effectively in a variety of contexts by keeping an open mind and practicing cultural sensitivity. The World Languages Department is committed to fostering resilient language learners who can interact with others from different communities with confidence and compassion.
