Performing Arts Philosophy

The Performing Arts Department at Lick-Wilmerding High School invites students to explore the process of artistic expression from start to stage, both in performance and beyond the classroom. Through our performing arts curriculum, creating and performing is an academic practice. The Department’s culturally equitable curriculum teaches students to develop their personal aesthetic through exploration, interrogation and innovation. LWHS Performing Arts courses provide students with a supportive space and framework to develop their artistic voice through music, drama, dance and stagecraft.

This philosophy is aligned with the LWHS mission and commitment to equity.
