Something that stands out to me about BME is the idea of mindfulness... it was a lot of introspection that I'd never have ever done before. It was just very rewarding both mentally and physically. I think it taught me a lot of important values like team work, like persistence and being calm in yoga.... I really enjoyed just getting in tune with my mind and body.

The Body-Mind Education (BME) department's holistic approach to learning emphasizes the connection between physical, emotional, and social well-being, nurturing students' capacity for self-awareness and growth. By placing the body at the heart of learning, BME encourages movement, reflection, interaction, and play, equipping students with the skills to navigate life's joys and challenges with perspective and wisdom.
The curriculum for 9th graders includes movement-based modalities that encompass components of endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility. In addition to movement, students will delve into a comprehensive foundation of Health & Wellness topics, providing tools for personal growth. For 10th graders, the program offers a Sophomore Health: Human Sexuality course, which enriches their understanding of one's personal identity and interpersonal relationships, among other topics.
This year, we expanded our curriculum and now offer PPP elective courses for 11th and 12th graders. These courses build on the knowledge gained as 9th graders through diverse experiences that will support students in cultivating habits of body and mind that will sustain them throughout life's many terrains.
