Meet Our Head of School
Raj Mundra is Lick-Wilmerding High School's 14th Head of School.
The 2024-25 school year is Raj Mundra's second as Head of School at Lick-Wilmerding High School in San Francisco. Before accepting the head of school position at LWHS, Raj served in a number of roles at Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, including Dean of Studies and the Deputy Head of School for Academics and Residential Life. Mr. Mundra was the founder and director of the Niswarth program, which partnered Andover students and faculty with organizations in South Asia for 15 summers in community engagement experiences with the core values of humility, empathy, and gratitude. He also founded Educators for Teaching India, a group that worked with the South Asia Institute at Harvard University for seven years to bring together public and private school teachers from across America to discuss content and pedagogy approaches to teaching India in secondary schools.
In addition to his time at Andover, he has also served as the Deputy Head of the Secondary School at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa, Kenya in 2003, and as a visiting faculty member in science and service at the American School of Bombay in 2010. Mundra holds a B.A. from Brandeis and a MAT in teaching biology from Brown University.
Raj lives in San Francisco with his wife, Kavita, who is also an elementary school teacher. They are enjoying getting to learn more about the Bay as well as hikes, sunset walks, and the rich culinary offerings of the Bay Area. They have two adult sons who reside in Boston and Los Angeles.
