Tigers Roar Through Spring Season

What an incredible way to wrap up the school year! Our Tiger athletes brought joyful energy, determination, and growth to the spring season. From deep postseason runs to historic individual milestones, they gave us so much to celebrate. Here are some highlights:

  • Girls Lacrosse & Boys Lacrosse: Both programs had outstanding seasons, each finishing 2nd in the Bay Counties League (BCL) and qualifying for the North Coast Section (NCS) D1 playoffs. Girls Varsity finished with an impressive 12-6 overall record, while Boys Varsity wrapped up their season at 12-4 overall. Both programs also welcomed fantastic leadership this year with new varsity head coaches at the helm: Shailin Singh for boys varsity and Isaac Campbell for girls varsity.
  • Boys Tennis: The Boys Tennis team put on a spectacular performance, finishing 2nd in the BCL with a dominant 18-4 overall record. The team qualified for the NCS D1 Team tennis tournament as the #2 seed and advanced all the way to the Semi-Finals. And the other good news? There are no seniors on the squad, meaning all players are returning next season!
  • Track & Field: Our Track & Field athletes tore up the dirt this spring, with the Girls team placing 2nd out of 9 in the league and the Boys team taking 3rd out of 9. An incredible 10 athletes qualified to keep their season going at the Meet of Champions!
  • Baseball & Softball: Varsity Baseball fought hard for a 4th-place finish in the BCL West, defeating Marin Academy in a thrilling play-in game to secure their playoff spot. Varsity Softball also showed incredible heart and resilience competing throughout their tough league schedule.
  • Badminton & Swimming: The Badminton team finished a strong 3rd in the BCL West with a 6-4 league record, highlighted by a Boys Doubles Championship and a 3rd-place finish in Girls Singles. Meanwhile, Co-Ed Swimming welcomed a new coach: LWHS History teacher Mike Clayton, with the Girls placing 4th and the Boys placing 5th in the league.

At our Spring Sports & Senior Awards Banquet, we presented our annual athletics awards, recognizing the individual excellence, leadership, and spirit that define Tiger sports.

  • Athletes of the Year: Finn M. ‘26 & Ella M. ‘26
This award honors athletes who have demonstrated excellence in their sports during their time at LWHS, while displaying outstanding leadership and serving as incredible ambassadors for their teams.
  • Scholar Athletes of the Year: Cillian S. ‘26 & Vivienne N. ‘26
This award recognizes our best overall athletes who have equally excelled on the court, field, pool, or track as well as in the classroom.
  • Anne Murray Ladd Award: Maggie B. ‘26 & Quentin W. ‘26
The award celebrates our quintessential team players—multi-sport athletes who are a positive, fun influence on their teammates, who enjoyed every aspect of being part of a team, and who appreciated and gave back to the school with everything they have.
  • Jeannette Gaehwiler Award: Austin S. ‘26 & Stella L. ‘26
This award honors multi-sport athletes who have shown a high quality of excellence, drive, and competitiveness across every sport they participated in for LWHS.

And new this year: the Athletics Department has established the Tiger Heart Award, honoring Brian Driscoll. Brian was a longtime LWHS Director of Development who retired in 2024 and passed away in March of this year. This award is given to those student-athletes who love their sport deeply, inspire others, and act as true role models for their peers. Our inaugural recipients—Samatha S. ‘26, Ella R. ‘26, Amaya T. ‘26, Benjy C. ‘26, and Jonah R. ‘26—exemplify Brian’s infectious enthusiasm and truly possess the heart of a Tiger.

This spring and all year long, our athletes and coaches truly showed us what it means to live LWHS’ core values in every arena. They fostered a deep sense of belonging, building fun and competitive teams where every player felt valued and connected. They pursued excellence on the courts, fields, tracks, and pools, discovering how much they could grow throughout the season. We saw their dedication to their craft in the hours of practice they put in all season long. And through every tough play or challenging matchup, they maintained that special Tiger optimism that kept their spirits high and their fans entertained.

Thank you to all of our athletes for representing our school with heart and pride. Tigers, have a wonderful, safe, and restorative summer break!
