As part of their research on the science of compassion and empathy, LWHS students partnered with the Florence Fang Community Farm located in SF's Bayview neighborhood. Co-founded by our beloved Groundskeeper, Faheem Carter, the farm is vital as it is situated in a food desert and is tended by the majority of Asian and Black neighbors who also benefit from the fresh organic produce it provides. During weekends, LWHS students assist with gardening tasks such as weeding, mulching, and painting the growing infrastructure while engaging with the local community.
