KABA Multicultural Night Celebrates Culture and Diversity

The KABA Club and the Filipino Family Network (FFN) at LWHS recently hosted the 8th Annual Multicultural Night, bringing students, families, and facstaff together to celebrate the many cultures that make up our school. Through music, dance, and shared traditions, the evening highlighted LWHS’ rich diversity.

The night featured performances from community members, including vocal and instrumental pieces and dances from a wide range of cultural traditions. Each one offered a glimpse into the identities and stories that are part of everyday life at LWHS.

Kaelyn V. '27, a member of the KABA E-Board, participated both onstage and behind the scenes. She helped prepare and perform Itik Itik, a traditional Filipino dance. “Learning the dance was a new experience for me because I’m not really a dancer,” she shared. “It was nice to learn something new about my culture. I didn’t really know the dance before, and it helped me connect to my culture in a new way.”

Kaelyn also worked backstage and observed the performers as they prepared. “During a normal school day or walking through the hallways, you might not notice how much diversity there is at Lick,” she said, “but the multicultural show made it really visible.” She added that Multicultural Night helps ensure “everyone can feel like their culture is being represented,” which connects directly to LWHS’s value of belonging.

Reflecting on the impact of the event, Kaelyn shared, “These performances bring people together in solidarity. It’s important for everyone to experience cultures from everywhere to better understand and support each other.”

The KABA Multicultural Night remains a meaningful tradition at LWHS—one that celebrates culture, builds connection, and strengthens community.
