The belief that when families feel welcomed and celebrated in their children's school, their students tend to thrive is at the core of our approach at LWHS. We organize family-centered events, such as our family affinity network welcome gatherings at the start of each school year, to foster a sense of belonging. In the past, we have hosted welcome gatherings for the LUFN, BSUFN, AFN, and SAAG/SAME family networks. This year, we were excited to introduce a Jewish Student Union Family Network (JSUFN) and revive our LGBTQ Family Network after a five-year hiatus. Each event was a joyous celebration, emphasizing the power of affinity, connection, and communal care. They served as a heartwarming reminder of the importance of belonging within our school community.
We extend our sincere thanks to all who joined us. We also would like to express our deep appreciation to our family network Co-Chairs for their exceptional leadership, unwavering vision, and genuine care for our community of parenting adults. Their invaluable contributions played a pivotal role in the success of our welcome gatherings. We are grateful for the collaboration that has helped us create an inclusive environment where our most underrepresented students and their families feel a true sense of belonging at LWHS.
