LWHS is committed to the following:

• Using green janitorial products and reusable cloth towels that are washed on the premises. 
• Providing green seal certified paper products (100% recycled, de-inked without solvents/chlorine or other chemicals, no bleach, pigments, dyes, fragrance or softeners) in restrooms.
• Using hands-free towel dispensers.
• Using pre-measured foam soap and Purell dispensers throughout campus.
• Using water friendly, shorter flush toilets.
• using aerated shower heads and sink faucet to cut back on water flow.
• Using instantaneous water heaters to save energy in the shops, Howth Street building and science classrooms.

Solar panels  located atop The Shops buildings generate enough electricity to run 85 computers, which are are set to go to sleep after a short period of time.

Architecture classes teach green building design and practices, and the shops are incorporating eco-design and recycling/reuse principles in the curriculum. 

LWHS Campus Wide Efforts:

• Paper, plastic, cans, bottles, cardboard, light built and battery recycling.
• Use of compost bins.
• Food service centers around seasonal, healthy food that is organic when possible.
• Biodegradable materials are used whenever possible.
• Energy efficient, motion activated, incandescent light bulbs
• Reduction of paper handouts and use of soy-based ink.
