On this page you will find all the information you need to successfully navigate the LWHS application process. If you have any questions, our Admissions Team is here to assist you in any way we can.

Admissions Process

  • Step 1: Submit an Inquiry

    8th graders who are interested in learning more about LWHS should submit an inquiry form starting Monday, August 15th.
  • Step 2: Schedule a Campus “Shadow” Visit (optional)

    Campus "Shadow" Visits will begin Tuesday, September 13 and end Friday, December 2. Submit the Campus "Shadow" Visit Request Form to schedule a visit. 

    Visits between September 12–October 21 will be scheduled beginning Monday, August 29. An email invitation will be sent to 8th grade families who submit an Inquiry Form

    Visits from October 25–December 2 will be scheduled beginning Monday, October 10. An email invitation will be sent to 8th grade families who submit an Inquiry Form.

  • Step 3: RSVP for an Open House (optional)

    2016-2017 Open House dates are: October 23, November 12, November 20, December 3, and January 5.

    Registration for 2016-2017 Open Houses begins on Monday, September 26. Reservations are required to attend and can be made after an inquiry form has been submitted.
  • Step 4: Register and Take a Standardized Test

    LWHS accepts SSAT or ISEE test scores. Please note that we must receive score reports from each testing organization, and will not accept photocopied or unofficial reports from applicant families. Scores will not be accepted for tests taken after January 2017.

  • Step 5: Submit Part I—Parent/Guardian Application

    The courtesy deadline is December 1, 2016 which prompts scheduling of the student interview. The final deadline for submission is Thursday, January 12, 2017 by 3:00pm.

    Please note that on the online version of the application, Question 3 - the Parent/Guardian Recommendation is filled out separately from Part 1.
  • Step 6: Submit Part II—Student Application

    Final deadline for submission is January 12, 2017 at 3pm.
  • Step 7: Schedule a Student Interview — January 21 or 28, 2017

    Members of our Admissions Interview Committee will conduct 30-minute interviews with student applicants. Students are interviewed in pairs and engage in conversation about their interests and hopes for their high school experience. Student interviews are informal in nature, so no preparation is necessary. 

    Interviews are scheduled after the Admissions Office receives Part I: Parent/Guardian Application and the application fee.
  • Step 8: Submit Principal/Counselor, English, and Math Teacher Recommendations

    Recommendation forms should be completed by the applicant's counselor/principal, 8th grade math, and 8th grade English teachers. Be courteous by submitting a recommendation request to your teachers by November 1, so they have plenty of time to complete the recommendations. 

    The forms and the envelopes must be signed and sealed by your teacher, or emailed from their school email address, and sent directly to the LWHS Admissions Office by January 12, 2017.
  • Step 9: Submit an Official Transcript

    Your parent/guardian must complete the Transcript Release Form and deliver it to your school's counselor/registrar to have your 7th and 8th grade transcript sent to the LWHS Admissions Office by January 12, 2017. If your 8th grade fall semester or trimester grades will not be completed by then, please ask your school's registrar to send them to our Admissions Office as soon as they are available.

The following timeline features important deadlines and dates to remember throughout our application process. Feel free to contact us with questions. 

August 2016
  • Submit an inquiry form beginning August 15.

September 2016

  • Tuesday, September 13: Beginning of campus shadow visit program.

October 2016
  • Submit an inquiry form if you have not yet done so.
  • Monday, October 10: Campus "Shadow Visit" Request Form becomes available at 10:00am for visits October 25 through December 2. Visits can only be scheduled by submitting the Campus "Shadow" Visit Request Form (8th grade students only).
  • SSAT and ISEE Test Date: October 15
  • Open House: Sunday, October 23, 1:00–4:00pm. RSVP required.
  • Register for the SSAT or ISEE.
  • RSVP for an Open House.
  • If you have not requested information about our Flexible Tuition program through the online inquiry form, please email the Admissions Office (admissions@lwhs.org) with your request. (optional)
November 2016
  • Open House: Saturday, November 12, 1:00–4:00pm. RSVP required.
  • Open House: Sunday, November 20, 1:00–4:00pm. RSVP required.
  • Campus visit program continues. Submit the Campus Shadow Visit Request Form to schedule a campus shadow visit (8th grade students only).
  • Ask current teachers to complete recommendation forms.
  • Request official transcript from your middle school.
  • SSAT and ISEE Test Date: November 12
  • ISEE Test Date: November 19
  • RSVP for an Open House.
  • If you have not requested information about our Flexible Tuition program through the online inquiry form, please email the Admissions Office (admissions@lwhs.org) with your request. (optional)
December 2016
  • Courtesy Deadline: Thursday, December 1, Part 1: Parent/Guardian Application and application fee. Student interview is scheduled upon receipt by Admissions Office.
  • Friday, December 2: End of campus visit program.
  • Open House: Saturday, December 3, 1:00–4:00pm. RSVP required.
  • Mid-December: Flexible Tuition information emailed. Request a Flexible Tuition Application by email if you have not yet done so (optional).
  • SSAT and ISEE Test Date: December 10
  • ISEE Test Date: December 17
January 2017
  • Open House: Thursday, January 5, 5:30-7:30pm. RSVP required.
  • Make an appointment with your tax preparer for the first week in February if you plan to apply for Flexible Tuition.
  • Deadline: Thursday, January 12, by 3:00pm, ALL APPLICATION MATERIALS: Part I: Parent/Guardian Application, Part II: Student Application, recommendation forms, official transcript.
  • Student Interview Days: Saturday, January 21 and January 28 from 9:00am–3:00pm.
  • Deadline: Thursday, January 19. FLEXIBLE TUITION APPLICATION: Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) completed online and submitted to School & Student Services (SSS) by NAIS.
  • SSAT and ISEE Test Date: January 7
February 2017
  • Deadline: Friday, February 10. FLEXIBLE TUITION APPLICATION: Upload 2016 Tax Returns, W2s, all schedules, Form 4506-T, and LWHS Supplemental Information Form on SSS Website.
March 2017
  • Thursday, March 16: Admissions Decision Letters and Flexible Tuition Awards Mailed.
  • Friday, March 17: Admissions Decision Letters and Flexible Tuition Awards Emailed after 4:00pm.
  • Wednesday, March 22 by Noon: Flexible Tuition Enrollment Contracts Due.
  • Friday, March 24 by Noon: Non-Flexible Tuition Enrollment Contracts Due.
