Counseling

Psychological Resources for Students, Parents, Guardians, Faculty and Staff
Welcome
As we know, growing up in an increasingly complex and fragmented world is not easy. Maurine Poppers, LMFT, and Erika Solis are available to meet with students to sort through the multitude of issues accompanying adolescence. We offer support in a safe, confidential space where consultation, counseling and short-term therapy are offered by drop-in or scheduled appointments. We also consult with faculty, staff and parents.

Among the services we offer are the voluntary Peer Counseling Program where students have the opportunity to learn listening and helping skills and become an important support for each other and the community. We are also available to provide presentations at Lick-Wilmerding Parents' Association meetings.

Peer Counselors 2012–2013

A Counseling Resource

An energetic group of students who are available as good listeners and helpers for their peers. After training in counseling skills by Maurine Poppers, they volunteer their services to the student community and also for parent association events. Supervision by Maurine is ongoing. Being empathic, non-judgmental, and encouraging self-awareness is a mainstay for peer counselors.

How to contact a peer counselor?

Students can get in touch with Maurine Poppers and/or they can go directly to a peer counselor. Names and contact information for peer counselors are listed on the counseling office doors—the main counseling office in the library building and the "annex" located at the end of the frosh/soph hallway.
