 | LWHS Exhibit at Maker Faire wins “Editor’s Choice” 5/20/2013
This past weekend, 20 LWHS students, parents, and teachers took part in the 2013 Bay Area Maker Faire which features “innovation and experimentation across the spectrum of science, engineering, art, performance and craft.” The effort and passion they put into their exhibit won them an Editor’s Choice Blue Ribbon, which is given to Makers that have demonstrated great creativity, ingenuity and innovation.

  | LWHS Senior Throws First Pitch of the World Series 10/25/2012 Mario Barajas ’13, was chosen by the Boys & Girls Club, for all of his dedication and service, to throw the ceremonial first pitch at the first game of the World Series at AT&T Park on October 24, 2012.

     | LWHS Alumna Addresses Key Women’s Issues 9/26/2012
Livy Low ’09, was one of eight college students chosen to participate in the “ A Global Conversation: Women Leaders Respond to the United Nations General Assembly” event hosted by the Woodrow Wilson Center and the Women in Public Service Project. This event, held in conjunction with the United Nations' 67th regular session of the General Assembly, featured opening remarks from Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra of Thailand. President Atifete Jahjaga, Kosovo’s first female and youngest president, delivered the evening's keynote address, highlighting the importance of cultivating women leaders at the highest levels of government.

  | LWHS Grad Receives Sports Writing Award 9/4/2012
Sean Hurd '12, won third place in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame, Art Rosenbaum Sports Writing Scholarship for his article “A Good Athlete is a Good Athlete,” which ran in the April, 2012 Paper Tiger, LWHS's school newspaper. Alden Frankel ’14, also placed as a finalist in the competition.

    | LWHS Athletic Director Receives Prestigious Coaching Award 3/12/2012
LWHS Athletic Director and Boys Varsity Basketball Coach, Eliot Smith, is the recipient of the 2012 Positive Coaching Alliance's Double-Goal Coach Award. This annual award recognizes coaches from throughout the United States, "whose actions and programs not only teach players athletic skills but also help them develop skills that will serve them well throughout their lifetimes."

   | LWHS Students Attend Presidential Fundraiser 2/18/2012
Selected by the Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco based on their achievements in school and leadership roles in the community, Mario Barajas ’13 and Yadira Barajas ’12, were invited to attend President Obama’s fundraising event on February 16th at the Nob Hill Masonic Center.

  | Epic Sumo Robot Battle at LWHS! 12/13/2011
On December 7th, Sumo Robots built by L-W students enrolled in both sections of the Electronics 1 class went head-to-head in a tense and riveting competition. After four grueling rounds, Sir Oinksalot, created by Emma Wexler '14 and Toby Harris '14, was declared the grand champion.

As members of Chorrisima, Catie DeLiso ’12, Claire Fry ’15, and Emily Dwyer ’15, participated in the Youth Category of the BBC’s International A Capella Choral Competition, “Let the Peoples Sing,” on October 16th in Manchester, England.

 Over 2,200 Attend the SF High School Fair 9/26/2011
On Sunday, September 18th over 2,200 Parochial and Public school students and their families flocked to Lick-Wilmerding’s campus to take part in the 9th Annual San Francisco High School Fair.

     | Head, Heart, and Hands in Afghanistan 10/13/2009 The last two weeks of each school year is Jellis Block, where L-W students engage in hands-on, community-based application of the skills they have learned.

   | Aim High honors L-W Graduate, Grady Jung 8/28/2009 Grady Jung ’07 has been a dedicated teaching intern for Aim High at the San Francisco Community site for three years. This summer, Grady was awarded the Anne Ladd Teaching Fellowship Award, annually given to an intern who has shown commitment to the students, as well as embodying the many wonderful qualities of Anne. Anne, who graduated L-W in 1994 dedicated many summers throughout high school and college teaching for Aim High.

 Morell '05 Grows in Rwanda 8/28/2009 At every Admissions Open House, Al Adams emphasizes that L-W does not measure success by the colleges our graduates attend or the jobs they hold, but rather we deem ourselves successful if our students have the capacity and the desire to make the world a better place.

  | L-W Freshmen Hit the Beach! 9/26/2007
L-W biology teachers took freshmen on a field trip to Farallones Marine Sanctuary to collect data to be used to gain knowledge about, and preserve, the coastal ecosystem. Upperclass Marine Ecology students attended as learners and group leaders. The project focused on examining populations of sand crabs along bay area beaches.

  | L-W Student Hits Off-Broadway 9/14/2007 This summer J. Yuen-Shore ('09) starred at the NYC Fringe Festival in a play called "Ching Chong Chinaman." The comedy depicts an Asian-American family inured to suburban American culture. The family's son orders a servant from China to do his homework, and his arrival causes hilarious friction in the household. J. played the daughter, a high schooler obsessed with getting admitted to Princeton. "The Fringe Festival," said J., "was the biggest gathering of theatre crazies I've ever had the honor to attend. It was awesome!"

  | LIVE FROM BANGLADESH! 5/11/2007 J. Hollarsmith, '08 was selected by the California State Department to spend her Spring Break with 10 other Bay Area youth on a fact-finding and service trip to Bangladesh. J. stayed in the capital of Dhaka, travelled extensively through surrounding villages and spent significant time in a mangrove forest by the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean. She was incredibly moved by the people as well as the numerous challenges they face socially, economically, and environmentally. Some of J's fondest memories was inspired by the time she spent with Bangladeshi teenagers and intimately learning about their culture and lifestyle.

  | L-W's a Cappella Group Makes WAVES 2/14/2007 On Saturday, January 20, 2007, L-W's a cappella group, The Waves, took second place in the International Championship of High School a Capella (ICHCA) competition.
